Excursion to the Oceanographic in Valencia.

 

The Oceanographic in the City of the Arts and Sciences in Valencia, is the largest Aquarium in Europe in which the most important marine eco-systems on the planet are represented. The Mediterranean, marsh lands, tropical oceans, Antarctica, Artic , Islands and the Red Sea environments are all represented. There is also a Dolphinarium, 10 metres deep and filled with over 24 million litres of water.

Discover the behaviour of the different species including dolphins, belugas, walruses, sea lions, seals, penguins, turtles, sharks, rays, swordfish, jellyfish, starfish, sea urchins and other crustaceans.

After picking up in various points in Benidorm and Albir, you will take the motorway along the coast driving past orange and lemon groves and rice fields.   

Thursday full day excursion.  INCLUDED -  transport to Valencia and entrance to the Oceanografic.

Murcia, a typical southern Spanish city with elegant building and beautiful town squares.  

The day begins with a visit to Salzillo Musuem, dedicated to the works of the famous baroque sculptor Francisco Salzillo.   A visit to the 19th century Casino follows,  a spectacular building with an exclusive and luxurious atmosphere.  Free time then to visit the beautiful cathedral of Saint Mary.

In the afternoon free time for lunch and to discover the city in your own time.  Immerse yourself in the typical narrow streets and stroll through the pleasant squares lined with bars, restaurants and terraces.   For those looking to do some shopping there is a great selection of shops in Murcia for you to browse.

The last visit of the day is to the Fuensanta Monastry just outside the city where you can enjoy magnificent views of the city and the surrounding area.

This the best excursion if you want to learn about the real Spain.  See what rural life is really like in the picturesque inland villages in of the Alicante Province, where everyday life bears no resemblance to the coastal tourism of the Costa Blanca.

Along the route you will see vines and impressive medieval castles from the Muslim era until you arrive at Villena.  In Villena you will visit the archaeology museum and see the Treasure of Villena, gold, Silver, Iron and Amber pieces dating from the Roman occupation.

Visit a luxurious bodega and sample the exquisite wines from this region of Alicante.

From there you travel to Novelda where you will visit a beautifully conserved Art Nouveau house from the 1900's plus a visit to the most important attraction, the Gaudi Style Church of St Mary Magdalene from where you can admire the panoramic views of the surrounding area.

A natural paradise.  Full day excursion to Elche, Alicante & Santa Pola

The first time you see the incredible images of the Salt ponds in the Santa Pola Nature Park, your interest will be sparked.  The large pink tinged salt lakes in different stages of evaporation, make the perfect stop for migrating birds looking for food.  The salt ponds form an important part of the eco system and Flamingos return year after year to spend the winter months. See the mounds of extracted salt, tons of it in front of your eyes, which is an important part of the local economy, all from the coach on the panoramic tour.   On arrival in Santa Pola you have a visit to the Aquarium, located close to the port.

Your day continues in Elche, where you will visit the Palm Grove, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.  Over 200,000 palm trees and “Sissi” the eight trunked phenomenon named after the Empress Sissi.  Enjoy a walk among the palm trees and exotic plants or cool off in the shade on hot summer days.

Elche is also famous for the Mystery of Elche. A religious drama from the 15th Century which is performed in the Basilica of Santa Maria every August.

The last visit of the day is Alicante, where you will have free time to explore at your leisure around the port or along the promenade.

Full day excursion to the Fallas in Valencia.

Experience first hand the most impressive fiesta in the Valencian Community.

Your guide will supply you with a map of the city, give you a few tips and indicate the central point where you will be dropped off and picked up later in the day.

Admire the beautiful brocade on the costumes of the Falleras and on the men’s waistcoats as they pass in the processions throughout the city. Immerse yourself in the scent and colour of the flowers offered to the Virgin and then discover the impressive structures of the Fallas that fill the city’s squares , streets and avenues.

Marvel at the caricatures that are created every year only to go up in flames that night during La Cremà.

The city is alive with music, parades, fallas and Falleros. You will hear Pasadobles played on traditional Valencian instruments, the tabalet and the dolçaina.   The rhythm of the drum and the sweet sound of the pipe create the mood and draw you into the festivities. As night falls it is time to light the fallas. Fire illuminates the darkness as they burn like colossal bonfires.

The city is alight, filled with emotion. The emotions of those in awe of such a spectacular sight is mixed with the tears of the falleras as the fiesta concludes for another year.
