Hiking Relleu Walkway

This beautiful hiking route is not for the faint-hearted!

Classed as an “easy” walk, it is not suitable for people with vertigo, but if you are up to the challenge our experienced monitors will accompany you on this adventure.

Relleu is nestled in the centre of a valley surrounded by the Cabezon de Oro  Mountain, reaching 1209 metres in height, the Sierra de la Grana Mountain reaching 1112 metres in height and the Sierra del Aguilar Mountain at 8,889 metres in height.

During the month of February, the countryside bursts into colour with the pink and white almond blossom.

The easy walk is approximately 4 hours in duration, during which you will see the Relleu reservoir, one of the oldest reservoirs in Europe, the castle ruins which offer some spectacular views of the Costa Blanca, the Sierra Aitana and the Puig Campana mountains, and the hermitage of Saint Albert with the best views of the village.

The wooden walkway, on the route, is anchored to the ravine wall, and suspended 40 metres above the River Amadorio.  It runs 212 metres along the ravine wall until the end where there is a glass-floored viewpoint with breathtaking views.

The Sierra Bernia Mountain, located in Altea is one of the most popular hiking routes on the Costa Blanca.

Part of the Betica mountain range which runs from the south to the southeast of the peninsula, the Sierra Bernia rises to a height of 1.054 meters and is one of our most popular routes for hikers and nature lovers.

This popular 11-kilometer circuit offers spectacular views and an impressive “forat” or passageway carved out of the mountain.  The Forat measures 20 meters in length, and as you pass through there are some areas where the height of the tunnel diminishes forcing you to crawl through.   It is well worth the effort though when you emerge on the other side.

All walks include free transport from Benidorm, Albir, Altea, Calpe, or the Alicante area, a guide, packed lunch (not on the easy walks), and water.

Walking poles are available on request as are Day Packs.  These are small versions of a backpack that are lightweight but big enough for small items and are usually used on shorter day hikes.

There is a guide for every 6 hikers on our moderate to strenuous routes or 1 guide for 8 hikers on the easier walks.

Walks are normally during the week to avoid the crowds at weekends and bank holidays.

We recommend walking shoes/boots and a light rain jacket.

Majestic!   The Puig Campana is the mountain of legends.

The unusual shape of the mountain has given rise to many legends. It creates a backdrop to  the Benidorm coastline, a stunning landmark that can be seen from all areas on the Costa Blanca.

Rising 1406 metres above sea level, it is the second highest mountain on the Costa Blanca after the Sierra Aitana, which takes first place.

The Puig Campana circuit guided hiking route is an 11km hike which is classed as moderate and does a complete circuit of the mountain, starting from the Fonts del Moli at Finestrat.   Magnificent views of the coast accompany you on the steady ascent and on the way back you can stop off for a well-earned drink in one of the local bars.

There is also another route available, which is classed as moderate to strenuous at 8km.  This starts from the cooler Northern slopes and climbs to the summit  where you are rewarded with spectacular views which make the effort worthwhile.

  • All walks include: transport, guide, packed lunch and water.
  • Not included : day pack , walking poles.
  • For all walks we highly recommend walking shoes/boots, adequate clothes for the season and a light (rain) jacket.
  • IMPORTANT:  Print out your ticket from the screen after completing your booking or from the e-mail sent to your e-mail address.

An enjoyable hiking route for nature lovers.

The Amadorio Resevoir route takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete depending on the physical condition of the hikers, approximately 11 kilometres in total.

The reservoir receives water from the River Amadorio and the River Sella and is the only reservoir with views of the Mediterranean sea.

It is located just 15 kilometres from Benidorm in Villajoyosa.  Along the route you will see the reservoir and river, beautiful views of Benidorm and the Mediterranean, pine trees, rosemary and esparto grass as well as lemon groves, carob and almond trees.

During the spring, the almond trees paint a beautiful country landscape with their pink and white blossoms filling the air with their fragrance.

Included is return transport from your accomodation.

We recommend you bring: water and wear adecuate sports shoes and comfortable clothing.
